I've always wanted to do this, but the past two years, I have been out of town and will be again this year. Ugh...but maybe some of you will also be inspired and in town to be able to participate.
The Supermarket Street Sweep (aka "SMSW" or "The Sweep") is an annual bike race that benefits the SF-Marin Food Bank (SFMFB). Since 2005, hundreds of participants have zipped around the city to local supermarkets and brought back thousands of pounds of food to donate to this wonderful charity.
Rider check-in starts at 10:30AM. Each rider gets a manifest (which lists the stores you'll visit and the items you'll buy to donate to the food bank). Race and fundraising end at 4:00PM
WHERE: The race starts at Cupid Span's (Bow & Arrow) at Folsom and Embarcadero. Please meet here to check in for the event. You don't need to bring or print out your Eventbrite registration/ticket. The race ends at the SF-Marin Food Bank.
